Distinguished Bachelor of Science in Management Pepperdine University Students Graduates Cum LaudeLos Angeles, July 28, 2011 obtained a Bachelor of Science in Management degree, Marine corporal and Ventura, California native Scotland J. Hutton has been selected to deliver a speech of students graduating during the summer commencement ceremony for the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University. Pepperdine at August 6, 2011 graduation will take place at the Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu campus starting at 10:30 Cpl Hutton will be joined on stage by the keynote speaker and honorary doctorate recipient Richard G. Newman, AECOM founder and chairman of the board, and the Distinguished Alumni Award recipient and businessman Bernard Kinsey, MBA '73, Los Angeles philanthropist and founder of KBK Enterprises, Inc. Hutton cum laude Graziadio School graduates and newly inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society recognizes business excellence. Hutton begins at Pepperdine University in 2009 shortly after retiring from the United States Marine Corps.
While serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom as a crew chief, he was injured. After the Marines he was transferred to the security of information systems for the software company Intuit, where he served as a senior-level security analyst and systems engineer. Currently, he serves in a similar capacity at Harbor Freight Tools, a leading appliance retailer discounts. Identified as future leaders in cyber security, Hutton was invited to the United States premiere Cyber Challenge, a national coalition of public-private sector entities collaborate to increase the amount of labor by the next generation of cyber security professionals through skills development, mentoring, and resources, and facilitation of scholarships, internships and employment opportunities. He hopes to return to the USCC as a volunteer instructor in the near future to encourage other students to continue their career security information.
While enrolled at Pepperdine, Hutton addressed many of the technology business management classes as guest speakers and provide a unique perspective on the current state of information security in corporate America.
